Microdermabrasion

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a medical technique for removing the topmost layer of skin leaving it supple and vibrant. The DiamondTome Wand removes this layer of skin by gently abrading the skin with natural diamond chips while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of skin leaves a smoother texture and promotes new growth.

Microdermabrasion using a DiamondTone Wand is similar to particle dermabrasion and chemical peels in its results but without the adverse effects of loose particles, irritation and skin reaction. Unlike other mircrodermabraders, the NewApeel system uses no loose crystals or other abrasives to contaminate you or the environment.

How much discomfort will I experience?

Microdermabrasion treatments using the NewApeel system are almost entirely painless yet effective. The degree of effectiveness is controlled by a widely adjustable vacuum in conjunction with the varying coarseness of the four wands. Your skin care professional is trained to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment while at the same time ensuring your comfort. Because exfoliation occurs only as the wand is drawn across the skin, and there are no crystals being blasted at high forces against the skin, the NewApeel systems is regarded as safer and more gentle than other systems even at its highest settings.

How will I look after the treatment?

Your skin may look slightly flushed immediately after the treatment but should return to normal in 10-30 minutes. Your skin will look and feel smoother and more youthful even after the first treatment and will continue to improve with additional treatments.

Advantages of DiamondTome Wands

Microdermabrasion is a wonderful alternative to laser or chemical peels because it is noninvasive, non-surgical and requires no down time after treatment except that we ask patients to avoid excessive sunlight right after treatment and, of course, to apply sunscreen regularly at all times.  In general, normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment and your skin is free of redness, irritation and particle contamination. Patients experience softer, smoother and cleaner skin after the first treatment. Treatment series vary from four to ten sessions depending on the condition being treated and the type of skin.
